I am thinking more of people on UC who have either never worked or worked very little and have been on benefits for years.

I believe they get presented with opportunities but are not obliged to accept them if not "appropriate".

Now some of that I understand and accept ........

This is the part that really got to me, screenshot used as quote too long for BSky. What an utter waste of everyone's time trying to weed out AI-generated, soulless work is. It shouldn't be like this. :(

This scandal has stolen months of capacity, time, labour, money, and attention away from the genuine queer writers that we exist to support. It has forced us to treat the very new voices that we aim to platform with skepticism, putting an ugly and suspicious lens over our joyful volunteer enterprise.

Every penny we lose is money that can’t go into paying our collaborators, producing books, and making radical queer art. On this front, even Wrath Month cannot contain the fury we feel at the prospect of having been conned.

The Met Office has expanded its extreme heat warning for the UK, predicting record-breaking highs of 38C (100.4F) this week.

The Met Office forecasts that extremely high temperatures could last from Monday until Thursday, leading to health concerns for elderly and vulnerable people. The forecaster said there was “growing confidence” that this week may break the record for the hottest June temperature of 35.6C, which was set in 1976 in Southampton and Camden Square, London, in June 1957.

I remember when it was "Video Nasties", then "violent computee games" that were corrupting the youth, warping their brains etc. This time round it's social media. Funny how, every generation there's that one thing politicans can point to and say "it's that".

Every parent can see it with their own eyes: Social media is making children unhappy. It’s making it easier for bullies to harass and abuse them. And it could even be harming their mental health, exposing them to content that is dangerous because that’s what grabs the attention. It’s designed to be addictive — of course it is… It stops children doing their homework, reading, playing with their friends outside, going to bed at a decent hour.

“It’s not the first time the Green party leader hasn’t been straight with the public. Spending Monday morning playing Paradise Killer on PC. It's a little out of my usual comfort zone but the game exudes style and charm. Have started it before but was distracted by other shiny things. Am determined to suss out the killer this time round.
