We found a beer garden. Boy. What a great day to have an eclipse, anyone have one ready to go?
It’s @samer.is birthday so we are celebrating with all his favorite things: a sunny walkabout in Reykjavík before a 4+ hour (!!) dinner at Óx.
I pet two more Icelandic cats today but only got a pic of this regal gal who jumped up on a fence so her minions could reach her better.
Also I highly recommend putting googly eyes on your Seestar (ty @kellyrand.bsky.social for that idea)
We were blessed with the Reykjavík cat burglar at @samer.is’s place!! When I tell you me and @volcanojw.bsky.social gasped louder than we did at the eclipse when we heard the meow…(and JW got a flop!!)

I had the Seestar going on timelapse with the solar filter on, in wide view because we couldn’t actually see where the sun was (so I couldn’t track it). Totality looks like your old CRT hitting end of broadcast for the day.
It was raining hard enough that we waited for totality underneath a tree in the hats with the eclipse patch @samer.is made for us. @volcanojw.bsky.social
Well it was rainy and as cloudy and can be, and we are dummies who didn’t turn the lights off where our cameras were, but totality remains undefeated as an experience.
Our Iceland gang is outta luck for this eclipse 🌧️ but if you are in DC or the U.S. Northeast (right of the green line below) you are gonna get to see a small partial eclipse—go see them kiss! (as @portcityposter.bsky.social says)

Very very muggy today, but overcast in the low 80s is about as good as it gets for summer hike weather—the creek is looking nice and lush!
Out here at Nats park on a perfect summer Wednesday in my cherry blossom jersey calling this guy “JJ Abrams” until the whole section ejects me.
Anyway I wrote two motions today that are likely to measurably improve two people’s lives and I feel absolutely high with it. Then two Pileated woodpeckers and a red shouldered hawk blessed my balcony view. What a day. Go volunteer.

I know we’ll never have the cache of the DC Punk Archive but I should definitely make a bunch of Exposed DC buttons and stickers to giveaway at the library right? (I run into Exposed photogs every time I’m here!)
You know those horror movies where growling is coming from all the trees around them and they’re terrorized by where the monster will finally pop up? That’s what these all day flyovers remind me of. Just constant roaring from all sides.
Pro move of course is to book at the nice places when the whole city leaves on holiday (and/or is at a USA team watch party) so I took my mom to Oyster Oyster tonight. Undefeated.
Feels like a weird thing to post but the fancy new hot dog place in Van Ness is kinda great? Tons of outdoor seating and the whole inside is open air as well. I had an $8 Belgian blonde last night from like 20 beers on tap. And the menu has a whole section of breakfast burritos!
Finally invested (my mom’s hard earned season ticket reward points) in a Nats cap! Go home team!
