One of my collection issues that is Extremely Normal: back in the day, I was trying to buy all the Discworld books. Shortly after I started, they changed sizes - and because I had a bunch out of order, buying newer copies would mean getting taller skinnier ones that wouldn't stack well. AGH.

I really love your commitment to depicting absolutely normal, everyday, relateable scenes. Every time I see your art I go "Yeah, that could be any given Tuesday." Anyway I'm gonna go back to thinking about this on my regular normal chair that doesn't sound like Brad Kerr making chewing noises.

One thing I DID accomplish, violently, was adapting my adapter so that the mini-HDMI port at the top of the monitor could run a cable behind it. I could only find mini-HDMI to full HDMI converters, & the one I got had excess material which kept it from fitting so I... did surgery. But it works!

The back of the 6" portable monitor from earlier in the thread. An HDMI port repositioner dongle is plugged into the top.

A mini-HDMI to HDMI adapter, intended to allow a cord to be plugged in in the opposite direction to avoid cord strain. The actual metal of both the mini-HDMI plug and the HDMI port are mostly undamaged, but a chunk of plastic that would have sat right above the HDMI port appears to have been not-so-delicately removed. Sometimes you gotta do surgery with a shotgun, what can I tell you.

A testament to my hubris: got all the missing bits to replace my S9's battery and do a test run before I start the external work on a cyberdeck. Pretty sure I didn't let the isopropyl alc I used to clean up the phone glue dry out enough, phone buzzed for like a day & now won't turn on. UGH.

An amateur cyberdecker's monument to failure: a Samsung Galaxy S9 plugged into a DeX dock, which itself is plugged into a thick powerbank and a 6" screen. Wires are everywhere, nothing is turned on.

I found this. Now, that COULD have come undone by now hard I had to rip the case off, but given that the battery is dying I suspect it's more likely the battery is expanding. If I knew I'd be replacing the battery, I wouldn't have gotten a new phone! Alas. I have the tools & replacement now though.

I truly hate seeing pictures of myself, especially when I haven't shaved, but it's good to have proof I go out & do stuff at derby. And no, I'm not doing a weird version of The Fonz, I'm just signaling an official timeout!

God I love going to see horror movies on Sunday nights. I am almost always the only person here, and while I usually love getting the theaters with Atmos, getting stuck in the small capacity room is its own charm. Seeing Mandy in here back when it was in theaters was a surreal experience.

My other find has a bit of personal family history: my family had been in this country for maybe a decade before this infamous broadcast happened. Hilariously, my family's farm is a 5 minute drive from where the "touchdown" happened - so my grandfather drove out to investigate & found the truth.
