In Alan Rickman's diaries there's a cryptic reference to Iris Murdoch's The Sea, The Sea. He mentions enjoying the novel and then a month later he's discussing it at lunch with director David Cronenberg and they 'seem to be on the same page'. Were they planning an adaptation?
