Fan of bikes, packrafting, hiking, and lots of other activities with my spouse, kiddo, and dogs.
Tell me you don't understand technology without telling me you don't understand technology. This quote Washington state Rep. April Berg per @politico.com newsletter this AM. Ma'am, we've been using emails for decades without these data centers...
Indeed, they should. Raises a question I've been pondering: wonder where administration officials will be traveling overseas after the midterms and what that means for extradition and such...would be good for people (e.g., press) to start asking.
An interesting article in @liberalcurrents.com today—a bit wandering, tho'—but this part near the end is really worth much more focus. It's what I've been working on in various circles and it's frustrating because a lot of folks on the left don't seem to understand *this* is the fight...
Even if the name is gone now, I wish the court would order someone jailed and fined since they missed the court-mandated deadline. There must be consequences, there must be accountability.
At least they're giving us a nice, concrete target for campaigns and ultimately for practicing the art of rescission (even if it isn't signed into law before 2029) on the path to abolishing ICE...
I was just looking at some @dataforprogress.org polling in which people want the USG to spend a lot more on housing. I'm as big a fan of bigger (and better) gov't as anyone, but not sure how this is a federal issue. Infrastructure in many cases yes, but housing? bit.ly/4aTDRNb
Kudos to @reuters.com for appropriately framing this issue of the Trump administrations abuses of the justice system.
WTAF is wrong with you, @notus.com? The Kennedy Center cannot be renamed by the Board, a fact plain-as-day to anyone with even average reading comprehension. Your decision to use the illegitimate name in your daily email is gross and a disservice to reality. No more donations or support.
What a surprise...the billionaire's mouthpiece publication speaks. Terminating our @washingtonpost.com subscription last year was a great decision.
DC press, especially outlets like @politico.com, forever wired for Republicans:
I wonder if BP get into how their investments are also really forward-looking, since they're contributing to the disaster response, coffin, and medical supply economies because they're one of the big contributors to accelerating climate change that driving disaster?
This is Zapus. She was a sweet, pugnacious cheagle who loved rubbing her belly on grass, sand, snow, whatever. She sadly passed away a couple of weeks ago due to complications from kidney dysplasia.
@punchbowlnews.bsky.social delivering messaging for Republicans, as usual. Alternative: Democrats have refused to vote for funding when the Trump White House has demonstrated they will not follow the law, Hill Republicans won't push back, and people will pay dearly with healthcare cost increases.
This was Zapus, a boisterous cheagle. She loved belly crawls in the sand and grass and snow and everywhere. She had kidney dysplasia and passed away this morning less than 2y old…now at peace but her people are very sad and miss her.
I was happy to find this mug at our farmers market from a local potter…hedgehogs for the win!
Can we now refer to ChatGPT and Altman as Pusherman? Give users the first doses for free to get them hooked. How could this possibly be legal? Is there seriously not contracting law that would prohibit this? www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCDA...
Trying out @deck.blue. Will celebrate with a blue sky photo from recently, up at Maryland Heights, overlooking Harpers Ferry, WV.
Enjoyed a slightly muddy bike-and-hike this morning, though the view from one of my regular Appalachian Trail overlooks was…compromised.
We used to have a dog who was super fast and had big ol’ chomping jaws (for play)…so we named her Cicindela after our good friends the tiger beetles! She was a very good girl.
What a surprise…Big Tech wants more electricity and less oversight for their junk generators. Here’s a better idea: let’s invest in people and keeping our planet habitable rather than giving more away to the modern robber barons.
@rosemarymosco.com It's arrived and is great! Flipping through, I'm finding invaluable definitions for alcid, rail, and speculum, among so many others. 💯
The surest sign you should worry about AI? Megan McArdle says not to worry about AI.
Today's Word of the Day from @merriam-webster.com is risible, as in, "Today's Republican party is risible: they deserve to be mocked and laughed at because they are absurd and unreasonable." (This is not to downplay the danger they pose...)
