I first saw Sam Neil’s work as an actor in My Brilliant Career and though Judy Davis is the centre of the film adaptation of Miles Franklin’s novel, I never forgot his brilliant work as an actor. Inspirational person, I hope he knew how much he gave to so many.
#TheLeisureSociety were really brilliant last night. #Glasgow #LiveMusic
"One suggestion in the report is for the festivals to commission work that has been made with AI." AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH on behalf of all the human beings struggling to get a commission. A job in the arts. A salary. 30+years experience here and we're all 'giza job'. www.thestage.co.uk/news/edinbur...
RIP Michael Pennngton. Hamlet for my old boss John Barton at the RSC. Two of the greatest spirits and minds uniting. The rest is silence. [Michael Pennington as Hamlet confronting Barbara Leigh-Hunt as Gertrude, Hamlet, 1980, directed by John Barton. Photo by Reg Wilson © RSC]
When I was at the Traverse, Iain wrote a play about outsider art/mental health called I Was A Beautiful Day. Gorgeous piece, we staged it in 2005 to open the new An Lanntair centre in Stornaway and took it on tour. x

#Glasgow fire yest next to #Central rail station has destroyed the dome & building “known as Union Corner, at the junction of Union St & Gordon St, the B-listed building was constructed in 1851 & pre-dates the station itself” Photos below show the building before the fire & the dome as it collapsed.
#MadisonCunningham superb Sunday night gig at St Luke’s #Glasgow
Sadly a Manel if ever I saw one. So my first question might have to be, in the 21st century why do we not have a woman speaking about culture? (Pace the chair). Cc @campaignforthearts.org @fedscottheatre.bsky.social @emcc-scotland.bsky.social
Blissful few days in Newcastle (and Tynemouth) seeing an old schoolfriend there for our boy’s mini half-term break #Glasgow
Peter de Wit’s harrowing (and deservedly award-winning in 🇳🇱) political cartoon of ‘Gaza Beach 2030’ seems more apt than ever in the light of Trump’s hideous Board Of Peace. 👏👏👏👏👏 🍉#Palestine
Deeply disturbing photos in latest release of Epstein photos - quotes from Lolita written on a girl’s foot. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
@ewandownie.com The castley/troll house one as I like to call it. (But not at this one)
@sarasheridan.bsky.social I meant to tell you sooner (there’s been a lot of LIFE things, sorry) but I read The Fair Botanists during our son’s October week (in the sun by the pomegranate trees below) and absolutely loved it. Edinburgh history and suffragette-seeds writ large and beautifully. 👏👏👏👏👏💐🫶
