This is why you need a kid. I literally just did this in my son's room. Though they don't glow as brightly as the ones I had as a kid (probably for a very good reason).

I just sorted out our entire selection of kids books and pulled out the ones thunder boy can handle with his current cognitive issues. I am so grateful for @sophiebeerdraws.bsky.social and Todd Parr.

After all my whinging it was really lovely, and the sun came out so it wasn't even that cold. Thunder boy loved his pony ride, and his big sister was very brave and had a ride too. And I got to have a good chat with his Mum and Dad (birth parents).

I'm so grateful for opportunities to stretch myself. And also very grateful to be done with this project. I over committed myself but I got there in the end. And I'm going to bed before midnight! So many other years I've been up all through the final night.

I would like to call a meeting where every single person involved in this casting explains what the fuck they were thinking. It doesn't work at all, and is a terrible plot for a Garfield film. The animation is actually cute and works much better than the other movies. But everything else sucks.

I am so grateful for the quiet room they offer kids with disabilities now. Thunder boy is pretty chill and used to hospital life by now. But he gets stressed in waiting rooms and wants to constantly move or leave. So nice he could curl up with a warm blanket in a quiet space instead.

I literally made a Candy Mountain cake for the Royal Melbourne Show one year. I should have left off the last minute half arsed attempt at Charlie. For some reason at the time I convinced myself the cake needed him for context.

For my son they ended up being the first indicator of a crash for him. We ended up using the Visible app to track his symptoms and it did end up helping us see one coming. I really like that you can add custom symptoms so we could add behaviour stuff since he couldn't verbalise how he felt.

Honestly, the one I can't stop thinking about is The Wardrobe Project. Especially as a fat person with a difficult relationship with clothes, especially buying them. There's so many lines that have changed the way I think about clothes. Like thinking about your body as *part* of your style.

I highly recommend starting antivirals for shingles as soon as you suspect you have them. But these side effects fucking suck. Like discouragement?? Seriously? That feels particularly unfair. I feel so gross and blah.

The kitty menace and I have discovered we're both happier if we each have our own footstool when I'm studying on the couch. He will patiently wait for more appropriate cuddle times. And he likes to be close by, but in his own space.

I have been saved!

I'm just waiting to pick my son up from school (he can't do full days because of his health issues). This is what it's like around his school at the moment. You can hear the very noisy birds and the cows in the paddock next to the school. You can also see the sign that shows the fire danger risk.

This might give a sense of the seasons. Most of the trees here don't loose their leaves so it's not as dramatic a difference as other places.

It's definitely different! It can be anything between 15°c and 40°c where I am. But it's usually nice and warm and a lot of Christmas events are held outside. Carols by Candlelight was started here in the 1930's. Lots of houses put up decorations. And Santa comes to visit on fire trucks.

Are there horse people here? I need horse people advice. 🐎 We are not horse people, but thunder boy has started riding this handsome boy through a disaiblity group. It's been awesome for him. So far he's dressing himself like this, but it's getting cold. What is good Winter horse riding clothing?

I have a new silly project and it's making me so happy. I asked my husband if this is the most ridiculous thing we've done, and he laughed and said we've done SO MUCH shit. I thought for sure it would give me vertigo but not yet!
