Still on my Godzilla kick. Going all the way back to Godzilla Raids Again (1955). Since I'm home now, rather than visiting my parents, I'll probably try to watch them in order.
When you let your kid fill in your badge info for Anthrocon. 😂 Anyway, I'm here today and tomorrow so if you're also at Anthrocon, say hey!
This book is fantastic. Written in the form of a memoir, A Certain Hunger tells the tale of Dorothy Daniels, a food critic in prison for murdering one of her lovers. It explores gender expectations, the many pitfalls of working in publishing, and is a love letter to food. I loved it.
Was thrilled to find Girl in the Creek at a small bookstore near my house. @wnwagner.bsky.social I'm so excited to dig into this!
There's something very satisfying about hitting exactly 100 units donated after yesterday's platelet donation. @americanredcross.bsky.social

I'm not sure why Pax looks so disappointed in me but I feel like I need to confess something.

Saturday morning read. This book is incredibly unsettling. I'm really enjoying it.
I decided at the beginning of the year to really lock in and read the books I own. I want my books to fit on my bookshelves, not be stacked higgledy-piggledy. So far I've read 10 books off my shelves and half of those have been donated. I feel like that's a good start, but I have so far to go.
Why does this dog insist on licking my furniture!?! I can't tell you how many times the words "Stop licking the couch!" have come out of my mouth. Then he just looks at me like this, as if to say "Why? I like licking the couch."
This is the face of a dog who ate all my blueberries. He keeps coming to check if I have more. Sadly, I didn't run to the grocery store and come home in the 30 seconds since he last checked.
I'm not sure who needs to see this, but I just found out that Monster High makes an Alien collector doll and she is gorgeous! She's also $240, but she's so pretty!
Pax approves. He paces and cries for at least an hour every evening until he gets a little treat. He starts while we're eating dinner, kicking his full food bowl and staring until I cave. I try really hard not to give in until at least 7:30, but he's relentless!
Pax may be napping but he also makes sure I'm not alone while I read story submissions.
Apex Magazine issue 151 is out now! Check out "Liecraft" by Anita Moskát, translated by Austin Wagner, on the Apex website now! www.apexbookcompany.com/a/blog/apex-...
Also, quick shout out to Apex's social media rockstar Ori for coming up with this incredible graphic! As we get closer to our funding goal, the little cow will get closer to the spaceship and being abducted!!! How freaking adorable! 😍

The Apex Magazine 2026 Kickstarter is LIVE! Our initial goal is $20K to fund four issues for next year, with the opportunity to unlock issues five and six through stretch goals. I really, really want to go back to six issues a year! www.kickstarter.com/projects/ape...
A year ago this absolute goofball became part of our family. Happy gotcha day, Pax!
Oz: Thank you for joining me today. Me: Um ...? Oz: I've asked you to join me because lately I've noticed that our walks have been subpar. Me: What? Oz: Yes. It is a problem. Me: I ... Oz: Also, I need more treats. The amount of treats is severely lacking.
