In the ’90s I was the only woman electrician(“spark”) in the uk film industry. I wrote this in my private diary, most rules are technical but there are some personal ones too. I was bad at asking for help carrying the heavy equipment (I thought it made me look weak & girly!) #work #rulesForWork

RULES FOR WORK • Always keep a positive attitude. It HAS to be done and it will be. 2. Dont talk about yourself. Label everything and put it in logical order. If a job is hard give it thought. Don’t just leap in and do it.5 you cant have too much distribution. 6. Always get a rigger *7. Always get a generator. 8. Always have a full greens kit for Hmis... 9 Respect The shooting environment 10 Remember-sparks do things the gaffers way. 11 always accept offers of help
