Not bad. Got out of The North for an overnight work trip to Hemel Hempstead. Lunch at Buxton’s new Dutch cafe - frikandel speciaal broodje… heerlijk. Now making use of the summer house drinking my last Texels Zeebries.

Totally with you on this. I have an annotated instructional photo in my album for just these situations.

Lovely isn’t it. I was there not long ago. Camped for a couple of days not far from the centre. Even though it was a Sunday we found quiet moment and even quiet streets away from other tourists. Oh, and the best bagel cafe ever: Sanseveria Bagelsalon on Predikherenstraat.

Then Birchwood, part of the Warrington in NW England has wide underpasses with clear site lines, but because development of the new town project around Warrington didn’t fully take off they’re underused and feel a little sketchy at times.

A pedestrian and cycle underpass goes beneath two carriageways with concrete sides, red pavers and lots of greenery.

We’re in Noord Brabant, and it’s scorching. We managed a short dog walk in Leendebos, but even 1.75 miles was too much for him. I had another short ride to explore the fietspaden. Very narrow round here - problem when you one across a fast road cyclist or moped, but they’re so enchanting.

Sad times, but it looks like it’s been a great holiday. Here’s one that caught my attention today in Utrecht.

Thanks! We’re only there two days (this year at least). We’ll be going to the beach (one near Vlissigen that allows honden - can’t remember which that is) we were interested in going to Goes, but that might be too far this year because we want to explore Middelburg itself.

The start of the new cycleway will be at the STW reservoir entrance opposite Cold Springs farm. There’s a right-turn pocket into the farm and a hatched median adjacent where the crossing point would be - so I think you might be right.

Cheers! Thought I’d take a refreshing beer on my first MTB ride in ages. Sitting at the top of the last downhill back into town. It’s not too cheeky being non-alcoholic, but these really are lovely beers from a Dutch brewery.

Stage 2 of the 2027 Tour de France Femmes, Manchester to Sheffield will snake it’s way through the Peak District, passing through our lovely spa town and along many of my favourite lanes and climbs.

The new path makes use of agricultural and water co land and will have the boundary wall and fence relocated so that the path is NOT open to the farm land. However they have double gates at TWO ends of the mid section of this new path - I've highlighted them in purple on the image of the plan 3/8

In the top section the path is dark grey for a small part of the route (meaning it is asphalt) and light grey for the main part of the route (meaning it is Ultitrec). The path in the bottom section of the image is the continuation. The first half on the right is light grey and the second half dark grey. In both cases at the border of the two path surface materials the drawing is labelled to indicate there will be a double gate. I have highlighted these in purple. There are also annotations showing that the path will have the UK shared footway sign (blue circle with a person and a bike in it) and a blue Cyclists Rejoin Carriageway sign at either end.

We have a route being created as part of a SRF project alongside an A-road out of town to link to a quiet road (Old Rd!). There is a shared footway already designated (blue line), and as the final missing link to Old Rd (yellow) a proposed shared path on the other side of the road (red). 2/8

Hi @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social, quick question if I may. A friend asked why we have an extra set of ped signals on each column on this set of crossings mounted higher than the normal ped signals. It just occurred to me that they may be for visibility if there are large crowds waiting - am I right?

Also, there are other things the council could do. In the meantime they could police the existing restrictions and ticket drivers like this for DYL contraventions blocking sight lines to the crossing point. Or they MIGHT be able to tackle the source of the problem with a school street.
