We’ve gone from 1 app icon size on the original Mac, expanding to many app icon sizes, and are now back to 1 app icon size for macOS. I think the 16×16pt icons suffer from not being separate assets, but I won’t miss creating so many asset sizes.
macOS 27 mini review as a designer: All design tools are working as expected, with one exception. Generator in Photoshop is broken. That’s not a huge deal though. At this point, I‘m very happy to be running the beta.
After lots of prototypes, I think I have a final wedge and cap model. It’s now time to attempt it with the correct colours.
They changed the “Creative Cloud All Apps” plan to “Creative Cloud Pro”, which is a higher price with stuff I don’t care about. The equivalent to “Creative Cloud All Apps” is now “Creative Cloud Standard”. The effectively jacked up the price for everyone who’s not paying attention.
Today’s Adobe gripes: Why have they reinvented notifications, with this giant Photoshop update window that appeared when Photoshop wasn’t open? I think it may have blocked me logging into my Mac, too.
Attempting to 3D print a Skala icon. It needs some tweaks, but it’s getting closer.
The next plugin we’re working on is a random performance sequencer. I’m biased, but it’s a lot of fun.
Also, don’t tell anyone, but the amazing Stylophone playing you see in the video was mimed. That wasn’t the take used for the music.

This is a great post by @aresluna.org, demonstrating how Adobe’s apps are decaying. I have a couple to add to the pile for the canvas window: It now accepts fractional pixels and shouldn’t, nudging increases/decreases by 0.01px, and shift-nudging by 0.1px. unsung.aresluna.org/photoshops-c...

I am not into the macOS 26 brightness and volume overlays changing position. Normally they’re top right, but that moves to top center if you’re in full screen mode.
I’ve been seeing beautifully broken PSD previews in Finder recently. It’s hard to be annoyed when they look this cool.
I purchased Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro via my US App Store account years ago, but my Australian account is my main account. With Logic Pro 12, it looks like it’s no longer possible for me to use that setup. Final Cut Pro still works though.
