Another gem from New Brunswick's @galleon-books.bsky.social. A great little novella whose true value (for me) lies in the witty repartee amongst the characters running a funeral home (always good for humerous material) and their efforts to thwart a takeover of their property for development.
Another great summer read for me: BECALMING from @dundurnpress.bsky.social Full of complicated family issues as well as protagonist Gosia's relationship with her partner Peter. Anxiety over various situations with not much becalming in sight. Four stars!
I received this book from @llpmtl.bsky.social in exchange for a review. As far as good short story collections go, this was a 5-star read for me. "Ways to Hold a Gun" was just one outstanding example. Recommended for lovers of literary #shortfiction.
Watched Sheep Detectives last night. There's 90 minutes of whatever time I have left on this earth that I won't get back. Emma Thompson was good, though.
