川上信 (Shin Kawakami)🇯🇵🇨🇳🇺🇸
@nkfinity
Japanese/Chinese ハーフ living in the USA 大田区🇯🇵 X 辽宁🇨🇳 X SF Bay Area🇺🇸 Has a Japanese soul, an American brain, and a Chinese stomach. Born in Japan, roots for Japan in the Olympics🇯🇵🎌🇯🇵 Somewhat of an Japan Knower. Loves history. Radical Qing monarchist?
NGL the Changjin movie from China has one of my favorite depictions of ol’ Dougie Mac. Just so cartoonishly arrogant. Maybe some nuances here and there…but highly entertaining.
It basically presents its super ultra-nationalist right-wing characters as incredibly “based” and glorious and whatnot.
Yes, Biden spent a lot of time and effort in Southern black communities, and they liked him in return! It's the big reason for his big 2020 SC primary win! This is pretty much an objective fact, and if your dislike of Biden is not allowing you to comprehend this, your campaign has a huge blindspot!
This is good PR and it’s such an easy win I get why he’s doing it, But holy s*** it’s such slopulism. Civil servants deserve to be paid more.
@thoc.bsky.social Influencers are re-inventing alchemical formulations for immortal life over here just like Chinese emperors of the old!
Weather forecasts of the Bay Area and Tokyo. Guess which one is which.
Gonna go with a niche route, but a modern re-make of this Impression city builder classic would be so awesome. It's such a unique city-builder with awesome mechanics.
That’s crazy. Chinese people don’t use soy sauce apparently.
Not accurate by any means, but I do love the depiction of Qin Shi Huang's tomb in The Myth movie starring Jackie Chan. Just so fantastical. An entire floating palace.
Everything in the history of powerful humans is 指鹿为马, repeat infinity.
I actually have a great example. I've made this walk between Keikyuu Kamata and JR Kamata like thousands of times. ~10 mins by walking. I'll never drive even if it's 5 mins. Just a huge hassle to navigate, find parking, etc. I'd stretch it to even ~15 mins, maybe 20 mins where I'd prefer walking.
Visiting the 関帝廟 in Yokohama to satisfy the 4yr old’s 3kingdoms obsession.
Japanese people when I ask them to take a picture of us with my phone, and it does not make a shutter sound.
Drinking some good stuff and relaxing while you buggers argue endlessly. (Of course I’m scrolling through all your posts as well. Guilty!)
Here’s a character well-known in Japan but probably not known at all in the US. さかなクン. He’s a Marine biologist who wears his trademark fish hat and shows up in all kinds of educational TV programming about marine life. Fun fact: he was recognized by the Emperor for his efforts in conservation….
Modern Japanese society borrows a lot of aesthetic from the West, but often without its religious themes that inspired a lot of it. Stained glass is one example. Closely associated with Gothic church architecture in Europe, but in Japan you see a lot of non-religious stained glass.
Another casualty spotted: this 7-Eleven sign is not colored, again I’m assuming due to naphtha shortages.
