Nope. At the time the ball was kicked, there was another defender closer to the goal line than the Belgian player. (In fact, there are two.) It only looks like it because he was ahead of the defender next to him.

The pitch a moment after the ball is kicked. The Belgian attacker who scored is circled in green; 2 American defenders near the ball are circled red. The defenders are closer to the goal line than the attacker.

It is a chaotic scene on the National Mall. Several hundred people have refused to leave despite an order to evacuate because of severe inclement weather that is approaching. Some are even arguing with Secret Service agents. At one point, a crowd of people began running back toward the stage. An officer is sternly repeating the order over a bullhorn and the crowd is booing. Many have begun chanting "U.S.A., U.S.A." A federal law enforcement officer is trying to assure people that the event has not been canceled. Many are not convinced. One man walking by blamed the situation on "liberals in the weather service," adding,

"I think this is baloney."

2 graphs, one of Carbon Capture Capacity and the other of Solar Power, each with actual capacity/production vs various projection models over time.

For carbon capture, projections show rapid ramp up of production, starting around 2020, with massive production growth over time. In reality, production is still at zero to date.

For solar power, projections show moderate growth over time, though some projections are somewhat promising. Actual solar power production has vastly exceeded even the most optimistic projection models, with current production over 2000 terawatts (2 petawatts, I think?) of power output.

It's a long road to go, but I'm definitely getting better at this.

Photo of a practice green at my local golf course. There's a handful of flag pins scattered across the green.

The target pin is the second one back dead ahead, for the record. I do have one orange ball that came up several feet short and to the right, but there's a ball just a foot or two behind the hole...

...and walking up to the hole itself, I have 2 balls right next to each other just 2 or 3 feet past the hole, and another one dropped right in.

Here's the thing: In the right context, I don't think this house would look terrible! It is a very pretty design, and it's well made and put together. It looks atrocious next to palm trees, crystal blue water and a suburban cut lawn. This house only works if it's surrounded by oak trees and marsh.
