Out wandering Salt Lake Cemetery. I got to introduce myself to my great grandparents, who died 28 years before I was born. He was from Liverpool; she, Bavaria. And I saw an amazing headstone of an angel doggo.

I quit my job and have been recouping. Enjoyed some coffee next to a creek. Don't know what's coming, trying to trust the feet that carried me through what's behind.

A pallet full of neatly organized, empty aluminum cans with a Post-It note attached to it announcing, "Off color." Which is a bit much, I found the cans' sense of humor a bit cheeky, but not bawdy or morbid, so I don't understand why the tiny paper warning is there.

Looking east along the Wasatch front, multiple fires have broken out above a few neighborhoods. The U on the hill for the University of Utah is visible but trees in the foreground block most of the city's buildings. Salt Lake had a dry winter and a hot spring: it's a tinderbox. You could do long division and start a wildfire by thinking too hard.

They look like rocks but taste like buttery nostalgia. I've been enjoying baking biscuits with sour cream, rather than buttermilk, the fluffy interior makes up for the calorie count (don't ask)

Sour cream sourdough biscuits on a cooking sheet. They have molasses, cayenne pepper and smoked paprika in them. Kind of like a savory scone, very good for mopping up sauce or gravy.

I managed to spend New Year's in the next valley over from home with some good friends. I also managed to find some coffee, lock myself out before anyone else was up and let myself back in through the garage. 2026 is off (way off!) and running 🎉☕️😂
