On this day in Nerd Lunch history… Thirteen years ago, I met @shawnrobare.com in person for the first time. And @runonsandwich.bsky.social and @paxholley.com were also there.
Finally, I’d have to go with the brown Wolverine costume as my final example for now. This is way superior to his classic look.
Another low-key example would be the Hawkworld outfits for the Hawks. These look amazing.
Even though it persisted as Venom’s costume and comes back from time to time, Spidey’s black costume is another example. Yeah, the red and blue is classic, but this looks awesome.
Sometimes I think about the cool comic costumes we got only for a short period of time because eventually they had to revert back to the original. Top of the list: this “water-camo” Aquaman costume only really seen in a four-issue mini in the 80s. Didn’t last. Had to go back to orange scales.
But I also got this photo of my kids with the display and I forgot I had done this.
Back in 2014, movie theaters had this display advertising Captain America: The Winter Soldier and I had to get a photo because I like getting and posting photos of myself (according to @theycallmedigio.bsky.social)

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the first time I met @paxholley.com in person. We met up at the Tallahassee Auto Museum and then almost died eating Double Downs (remember those?!) at KFC. We had interacted online previously, but this was the start of a great friendship. I cherish this memory.
Well, I have to figure out how to make it so he can stand and not topple over, but dang, this NECA Big Bird figure is pretty awesome.
In the first Trickster episode of the 90’s Flash, the final sequence occurs at a costume ball. In the background is a guy dressed as Superman. This costume predates Lois & Clark by two years, but has the same look (dark blue suit, large emblem). AND this guy…still a better Superman than Dean Cain!
I think NECA should make action figures of the decayed Ninja Turtles movie costumes.

I’m in a book club and I refused to read the May book because it was too long but our August book is the sixth entry in a sci-fi/fantasy series and my completist nature is making me read the five prior books. So this is me apparently.
