A note for our beloved 24/7 livestreamers: y'all will probably want to UNcheck the "End livestream automatically" box. If you don't, and your internet goes down for five minutes, your stream will go back to pre-live until you manually click "Start Livestream" again. Probably not what you want!

When you're done, the "End Livestream" button takes you back to pre-live. If you forget, don't worry: the "End livestream automatically" checkbox ends the stream automatically if you haven't streamed from OBS for 5 min. That way your previous stream ends and you'll be pre-live again next time!

Just dropped a new feature we call "pre-live". Here's how it works: livestreams can START and END now. When you first start streaming with OBS, you'll be able to see your stream and make sure it looks nice before broadcasting to the whole world. When you're ready to go, hit "Start Livestream!"

Getting some questions about Streamplace's login page, so wanted to do a quick clarification. "Streamplace, why do you ask for so many permissions on my Bluesky account?" Current guidance from Bluesky is that these are the scopes that should be requested by all production applications. That's it.

Introduction
Every stream on Streamplace is cryptographically bound with metadata that captures details about how the stream should be viewed, used, distributed, and monetized. This metadata also identifies the provenance of the stream, including who the creator is and any transformations it has undergone. Any Streamplace node operator can inspect the stream and verify that this metadata is intact and trustworthy.

This means that even when Streamplace video is downloaded or redistributed, it can still be provably linked back to the original streamer, as long as metadata wasn’t stripped. This is a powerful property that allows for sourcing, fact-checking, remixing, and more, all with attribution built-in.

The technical standard Streamplace has adopted for this is the Coalition for Content Provenance and Authenticity (C2PA). The benefit of adhering to a standard is that it’s a well-vetted specification developed by many organizations in the digital media space, which means Streamplace doesn’t need to reinvent the wheel. It also provides interoperability as more companies, devices, and software ecosystems adopt the same standard.

OATProxy is available both as a standalone microservice and as a Go library for embedding within larger Go applications. It operates using existing ATProto OAuth libraries and requires only adding a few minor lies to your front-end code. Give it a shot and let us know what you think!

Big updates to Streamplace chat! We're now using our own lexicons for chat messages — no more spam in the Bluesky replies when you chat in someone's stream. Also, you can customize the color of your name in chat!
