Guy fucks over the world, can't admit how much he fucked over the world, then tries to guilt trip the rest of the world into fixing his fuck up. U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A! p.s. Bye-bye American empire.
IEA head Fatih Birol will be speaking in Canberra tomorrow. Wondering if his inevitable warning to the world will surreptitiously be providing AUS/NZ with an extra warning, what with AUS/NZ being two of the most at-risk countries in the world.
At least they're improving from just shipping them off to Australia.

There's a thing on the internet about the world ending on Sept. 23: www.youtube.com/shorts/c-mJW... Today I saw an adherent lie down in the middle of the street screaming "The world is ending!" and (I think) "I am Gorgon and I am joy!" Expect a lot more of this craziness in the future.
New York City's latest tourist attraction: watching the US Gestapo pick up undesireables and disappearing them to who knows where.
It's out! The new album by acclaimed Canadian guitarist Adrian Raso and the Romanian monsters of brass Fanfare Ciocarlia, "The Devil Rides Again". Gotta admit, it's been stuck on repeat for the past few hours now. tr.ee/TjcvHMdBM3
I'm here for all the War of 1812 jokes (this one via @22-minutes.bsky.social), fittingly on this auspicious election day for Canada. www.youtube.com/watch?v=tovR...
All the “exciting” things always happen in New York City.
Hey (fellow) Canadians, wanna support some awesome Canadian music? Then mark May 2nd on your calendars, the day Guelph's Adrian Raso releases his follow-up album with Romania's world-famous monsters of brass, Fanfare Ciocarlia. The Devil Rides Again:
If it hasn't gotten any better, I noticed that Ghost reiterated on Twitter the other day that they're offering free migrations to those that got – ahem – stung by Beehiiv's price increase. twitter.com/Ghost/status...
I came across a Tim Flannery book at a library once where he not only signed it but he also left a message: “If you like this from the library, why not buy one for your bookshelf?”
For those looking for an alternative to Substack, I just saw my first article on X. The format/platform was, to say the least, rather pitiful. But hey, it at least came with an advertisement featuring a c*ck.
Another similar sentiment from another recommended piece, by Sharon Astyk. ko-fi.com/post/Cogniti...
I completely agree with this, & it’s exactly why I’ve been saying for 18 years that we need to reduce & even eliminate our watching of television. We’re going to need the mental fortitude, as well as the time, to deal with incoming issues. ko-fi.com/post/If-Its-...
Why waste a few bucks to see it in an IMAX theatre when you can just wait a few months (?) to experience it first hand, for free? Disclaimer: must be living in the US to qualify for free experience.
Yes, but you’re publishing on a Nazi shithole. (Let me know if you’re at all interested in some pro bono assistance from a former Torontonian — former Newmarketonian, to be exact — in migrating away, as more and more are presently doing.)
3/6 One of several previous examples is the time Hamish McKenzie, after public outcry, claimed to have "fucked up" & "overstepped" when SS dismissed editor @thielman.bsky.social, again contrary to policy seeing how Substack brass claim they don't undertake editorial decisions & aren't a publisher.
Who wants to be the first to tell them that “The Coming Age of Abundance” has been permanently postponed, seeing how we’ve reached — as Macron so aptly put it — “the end of abundance”?
Particularly seeing how his “censoring” by The Intercept was but a ruse to increase his grift on Substack.
1/3 Not that I'm disagreeing with what he did, but I think Spencer Ackerman of Forever Wars would fall under this description, as he knowingly took a Substack Pro deal and then left on the first day that his contract expired.
Can you elaborate more on what you mean by that? Because although I’m not sure exactly what you’re after, Jack Dorsey, the guy that conceptualized Bluesky, long ago recommended Ghost over Substack.
Yes, there's a few, the most credible one in my opinion being Ghost (which I use). Here's a screenshot from a lengthy post I just published the other day about Substack (link below), depicting several Substacks that have migrated to Ghost. ff2f.com/how-to-ghost...
Suppressing links to Substack would be one way of getting the message out that Substack is highly dependent on Twitter for funnelling in visitors, somewhat forcing a purchase/merger. Yesterday on the bird app @erictopol.bsky.social was just one of many examples of this quasi-extortion.
