Margaret Brundage (1900-1976) was the first artist to render Conan stories in color. Here is an example of her work depicting Conan for Weird Tales.

This is Conan's first ever depiction from his first published story and he quite a ‘Roman/Ancient Greek’ statue looking imho. The first artist to create an image of Conan was Jayem Wilcox (1895 – 1958).

Frank Frazetta cements Conan's image in the popular imagination. Here his his first published work created originally for the 1966 cover of Conan the Adventurer, a collection of some Robert E Howard stories and a hybrid Howard/L. Sprague de Camp one. exploringwarhammer.substack.com/p/conan

1987 and March's White Dwarf 87 has a news section, titled now ‘Awesome Lies’ which would feature an article by Rick Priestley previewing 40K Rogue Trader, and noting its shared setting and rules with #Warhammer Fantasy Battle. [1/2]

Forces of Fantasy came out in 1984. In July of that year, White Dwarf issue 55 reviews GW’s own product, Forces of Fantasy and gives it a 7/10.

Citadel continues to grow its product line with more support for WFB and with the launch of the first supplement for the game, ‘Forces of Fantasy’. It was then later released as boxed combined with WFB 1st Edition.

In an interview for the book Tony remarked, "I'd read that the Space Orks were known for casual brutality, I'd just watched the Hammer version of She (1965) in which Ayesha has her minions toss a bunch of chained prisoners into a fiery lava pit, so I took some inspiration from that!!..." [2/3]

Artist Tony Hough's first professional art was with Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader. He did a number of now iconic pieces in that era. Interestingly, one used for 1988's The Book of the Astronomican was cropped for the book. The full piece is pretty amazing. Here's the cropped version... [1/3]

Eldar Aspect Warriors burst from WD 127 (July) as the full reveal of the new warriors and lore was printed. In this the trajectory of the Eldar from space pirates/mercenaries in Rogue Trader, to getting much more background lore here ... [1/3]

The issue had an advert for buying it, “All items available as soon as stocks arrive”, This was because in the background Ian and Steve had successfully negotiated the 3 year exclusive British distribution rights for all TSR games, including D&D, the first edition of which had launched in 1974.

It's July! Time to post the July 1975 issue of Owl and Weasel, the precursor of White Dwarf, would become known as “the Dungeons & Dragons issue” as it would cover the game extensively and note that Games Workshop would soon be distributing it in the UK.

1988 would also see the release of Warhammer Siege, a supplement for both WFB and 40K based around the release of a scenery product, the Mighty Fortress, that was sold to both game audiences.
