And that's half a million more children nationwide given a free meal at the start of the day this year. No child should go to school hungry.
Lewisham borough has the most instances of lithium battery fires in the UK. I support Mike, Kelly and their team at @london-fire.bsky.social in their important campaign to educate the public about the fire risks of e-bikes. Find safety advice here: www.london-fire.gov.uk/safety/e-bik...
Bit lost now the World Cup is over? Fear not, there's still so much you can do with your spare time for FREE in our local community in the coming months. Also take a look at the Great British Summer Savings scheme summersavings.gov.uk (Inspired by @dawnbutlerbrent.bsky.social's videos!)
With the Representation of the People Bill due to return to Parliament after recess, it was great to hear Addey and Stanhope students’ views on votes at 16. They had such persuasive and articulate arguments - I left even more determined to see this bill through.
Day two of 60th anniversary celebrations at the Pepys Community Hub. Fascinating exhibition about the estate in the basement and a wonderful spread laid on. Thanks to the team for all your hard work the support you provide year round. #LewishamNorth #PepysEstate #community #summervibes
Fantastic to join pupils at Haberdashers’ Hatcham Primary School for a Be Internet Legends assembly with @parentzone.org.uk and Google teaching children about media literacy and ways to stay safer online. Loved seeing the kids so engaged in this accessible and fun session.
Parking officers working for NSL on a Lewisham Council contract need formal trade union recognition and fair pay. They do the same job for the same employer as their colleagues in Camden and Westminster, but are paid far less. I stand in solidarity with them on the picket line.
Yesterday's session in the Select Committee reassured me that Lisa Nandy Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport understands the gaps that still exist in the BBC's representation. Watch my full question to Lisa on my YouTube channel.
Had such a good time at our CLP social this weekend. 🌹 We’re moving forward with even more strength and determination for the people of Lewisham and a better Labour Party. A hopeful day all round - not to mention England helping to keep the mood going! ⚽
Spoke to Sarah Montague on World at One about the Timms Review today. The findings confirm what Disabled people have been saying for years: the system is not fit for purpose. I’m glad the Gov pledges any future decisions will be made in co‑production with the people they affect.
How can audiences connect with shows by the BBC if they do not see themselves represented? My question to Matt Brittin, Director General of the BBC at the Culture, Media and Sport Committee's BBC Charter Review this morning.
Great to meet @theabtt.bsky.social members at @thealbanyse8.bsky.social last week to talk about working-class access to backstage theatre careers. They shared what opened doors for them, as well as what barriers prevent working-class people from finding a way in. (1/2)
Access to sport and art keep young people safe. Double Jab - a boxing club in my constituency - is a brilliant example of how extracurricular activities for youth can be a trusted hand for those at risk of being pulled into violence.
How can we ensure we protect regional news services and the opportunities they create for young people? My question to Magnus Brooke, Director of Strategy Policy and Regulation at ITV at the Culture, Media and Sport Committee's BBC Charter Review this morning.
This morning I joined other Lewisham elected representatives, community leaders & veterans to mark Armed Forces Day. A pleasure as always to watch the flag raising ceremony in the sunshine & honour the contributions of our Regulars and Reserves, veterans & their families.

(1/2) I recently wrote to @LewishamCouncil to object to the new and updated plans to the redevelopment of Scott House in Deptford. You can read my letter to the council below or on my website www.vickyfoxcroft.org.uk/in-lewisham-...
Loved chatting with Meetra from Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network about their incredible work supporting people who’ve made Lewisham home. LRMN has spent 30+ years helping refugees and migrants thrive here. Join me in celebrating these community champions this #RefugeeWeek.

Proud to be MP for a diverse constituency that welcomes refugees and migrants. This Refugee Week, please support the amazing Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network and other local orgs who work hard to help those settling here. Here's to protecting our Borough of Sanctuary. 🩵
Labour's Awaab's Law means local authorities must: 🚨Resolve emergency issues in social housing within 24 hours of it being reported. 🌧️Address damp and mould within 10 days. 🏘️Hold social housing providers to account. Get in touch if you're a constituent & need help.
Brockley Max will go out with a bang this Saturday with its all-day community festival. Get down there if you can and see Brockley's heritage and arts scene at its best. www.wearelewisham.com/events/maxin...
A pleasure to meet with Nina from UK Feminista today. The organisation tackles sex inequality and violence against women and girls. We discussed the Gov's VAWG strategy and how I can support schools locally fight growing misogyny online and its influence in the classroom.
(2/2) After 14 years of the Tories worsening the capital's housing crisis and refusing to reform the broken system, our Renters' Rights Act is the first step to proper rent controls and strong renter protections.
Congratulations to Christ The King Sixth Form College on securing Government funding to revamp its buildings - new heating, roof repairs and upgraded electrics. This is a great investment and part of Labour’s 10-year plan to renew schools and colleges across England.
My statement on the staff redundancies at Goldsmiths University.
15,000 people live with arthritis in my constituency. This Arthritis Awareness Month, I’m supporting Arthritis UK to promote the importance of early diagnosis. Without it, NHS costs increase, our economy suffers and patients are in pain for longer. #ArthritisChampion
(2/2) Class disparity in the theatre industry is still rife. These conversations are a first step in pushing for change in government and across UK arts institutions. Read more in @thestage.co.uk www.thestage.co.uk/news/lamda-b...
(2/2) We talked about the rising number of unfilled primary school places and the toll this is taking on budgets. The previous Council started this work, and I hope the new administration continues it.
