Father's Day afternoon at the lovely Fountainhead Park with the whole family plus son's SO. Finally got water under the boat's keel for the season. Delightful. @justindotnet.bsky.social thanks for the accessible launch area (precedes you, I know). Staff were great. Wonderful operation.

We are at a flapping InterBus rest stop and we just about got hit by scarlet flocking macaws having some sort of dispute! INCREDIBLY RARE BIRDS ARE HANGING OUT IN MANGO TREES ABOUT A RESTAURANT PARKING LOT!!! WTAF?!?!?!

Bat signal for @volcanojw.bsky.social: got any thoughts on this rock here on headland on northern Nicoya Peninsula in CR? Specifically the white streaks in the otherwise black and grey host rock (is it diorite or some such?).
Speaking of adorable animals, I present this mother broad-billed motmot, with a cricket in her beak, who was either very tame or not inclined to be deterred from getting said cricket to her baby, likely in a nest just across the trail from where all these humans were standing looking at her
