My potted purple oxalis is normally an inside plant but I got tired of gnats. It’s been baking outside but underside of leaves covered in this gorgeous rust
One man's journey to heaven Diptychs by Sue Symon [prev. displayed in Bath Abbey] Calligraphy and needlework. These photos of photos don't do justice to the colours and especially the textures. These got me to start embroidering. A few samples:
Re The Sheep Movie... I've tried it and ohmigod you are all missing out on so much by not reading the book. The book is so much deeper, more beautiful and philosophical, and sheep-based.
Is it too much to ask for a well-written Georgian/Regency romance without casual misogyny? Alice Chetwynd Lee's novels have been rereleased but although well-written, I've not found one that did not casually, jokingly, refer to beating women. But it's never been a joke, has it?
Wading into A/C debate. This is what we are doing. 35 outside. 25 in this room. 30+ rest of house. Bush unit. Pipe poking out silly high tiny window. [Wrapped in a fleece throw]. Bucket to collect condensed water. Open doorway blocked by another fleece.
Thread copied from FB group "The Caving Crew" with thanks. @peakdistrict.bsky.social just told 78,000 followers not to go in any water. Any water. At any time. Unless it's a "supervised, organised event."
Someone sent me this... I haven't noticed this. Yes British crowds can definitely be racist but on this occasion, I don't think it's true. And why only against Wu?
Today's Spelling Bee makes me realis/ze how British I've become. Everything looks funny. It's still a "zee" though.
From a FB post [Mira Gupta]. The embroidery artist is Laney Boyd. Really spoke to me.

This Guardian headline desperately needs some punctuation to make it say what they want it to say. As it is, it sounds like he is no longer accusing Unilever of silencing their social mission.
This is a great shout. At explore dot org You can scroll through the timeline and look for bears. The salmon are cool too.
It's a trade off. Although I lost fish to heron prefilter as well, but a heron brought us our first fish--a river bream--so we owed them. My cover is really unattractive, I know, but here's the filter [recycle box feeding into plastic half barrel planter into pond]. Mains can be tricky too.
Shingles. Private pay option if you are over 50 is £460 for full course
Really envious seeing USians talking about their covid jabs. I' 56 and haven't qualified for a jab since 2022 in the UK. Paying privately costs £98.99. These are who gets common vaccines in the UK
On ebay I listed a woolen tapestry I inherited from an elderly neighbour, which I explained in my listing, saying all I know is she traveled to Peru at some point. Someone wrote to ask if my neighbour bought it in Lake Titicaca. This was my reply. And then theirs.
Finally finishing this. I'm enjoying it. Read a chapter when I first got it, then put it down and didn't pick it up. Don't know why. It's really thought-provoking.
I haven't read this but I highly recommend The Independence of Miss Mary Bennet by Colleen McCollough of the Thorn Birds for a really different look at all the sisters. The blurb gives some idea but you also see Jane and Lizzy's marriages quite differently in it.
Someone please tell me I will lose all my remaining friends if I respond to the "Weather will be great on Sunday" on the group chat with an article about the pea shortage due to atypically hot/dry weather this year.
