WizarDru loves Boardgames
@wizardru
Gamer, Father, old school nerd. Lover of Boardgames, Tokusatsu and goofy stuff. He/Him.
I also bet when he says he 'intends to display it in Times Square' that he hasn't looked into permits or any of the requirements allowing him to do it. Fearless Girl may have appeared suddenly, but it was commisioned.
oh no, I’ve become a ‘express the lemon over the cocktail’ kind of guy.
I'm super late to getting into #Shadowdark, but great goddamn I like this passage. I think we're gonna be friends.
Lavender Jack by @danschkade.bsky.social is filled with so many good characters, they can very no favorites, but DAMN I love Detective Madame Ferrier. She’s smart, but sympathetic to people, burdened with tragedy but still committed to truth. I love this comic SO DAMN MUCH.
@katebeaton.bsky.social knows something of youthful Kings and their exuberance.
What have they done to poor Rudiger Dorn?!? It’s like they found his burned photo in the fireplace in a police procedural.
Today on Shocked!, Shocked!...well, not that Shocked: about 0.1% of users on Polymarket and Kalshi actually take in about 67% of the profits from prediction markets. The WSJ article about it isn't surprising - it's the Defi/Meme stock game all over again - It's sad, but not a surprise.
CRACKING GOOD STORY. If you’re looking for a modern take on a pulp hero, RUN DO NOT WALK and pick up #LavenderJack by @danschkade.bsky.social It’s so darned good (reposting because I forgot ALT text)
TFW you see memory for a new desktop costs more THAN YOUR FIRST HOUSE.
This IMDB posting shouldn't be nearly as funny to me as it is. Clearly this entry could have used an 'editer' of its own.
At my meetup, one of the women who goes there said ‘you’d appreciate this: I backed some games in KS, then forgot I did and bought them at pAXU’ and sold me this lovely extra copy of “Hercules and the 12 Labors” from @envyborngames.bsky.social Also: I FEEL ATTACKED. Also Also: she wasn’t wrong.
There is character in Marvel comics called Stegron, a scientist who becomes a dinosaur ABs uses his knowledge to do it to other people. THAT is Elon Musk, really. He doesn’t want to solve cancer, he wants to turn people into dinosaurs. That’s fun. Stopping famine? Meh. 5/5
I will bang this drum on the regular - the Flash Gordon daily strip by @danschkade.bsky.social is a masterclass in short form storytelling. The art and text just do so much in a small space. Hopefully we'll get print collections eventually, ...and that will be a great day. Also: Bok is GREAT
I wonder if a lot of the stuff Claremont got through was because Shooter was too much a straight square to see it. I mean, it's barely subtext here:
It's gonna be a Portland Syrups Dry January...or @troegsjason.bsky.social Drinky January. I'm getting mixed messages here, Inbox. Cue Morgan Freeman: "It would NOT be a Dry January."
Yes. Fun fact: Spider-Man teamed up with Red Sonja once in a Chris Claremont-penned comic. He didn't change Spider-Man because he wanted him to experience his revenge.
Nah, he was already huge a few years before this. Wolverine was a breakout character (in part because he was a favorite of John Byrne's) and he became THE character after 1980's Hellfire Club issues, at the least. Cerberus was already parodying his popularity a year before Secret Wars.
In 'Angry Planet', the couple get a stay on a planet where everyone has no filter and get angry VERY easily. At the same time, Duke Mech -friend of Count Mecha from episode 1, apparently- has sent assassins to kill Tetsuro. Maetel is in full bad-ass mode this time out, thankfully. 8/20
So I continue on my watch-through of #GalaxyExpress999 - and it remains depressingly appropriate to the current moment. And while it has its flaws both narratively and culturally (it IS almost 50 years old now), it remains a solid and enjoyable watch that holds my attention. 1/20
