Well, the track will certainly be green for the Miami Grand Prix. Interesting decision to move the race forward to 1 pm...my guess is they are hoping for a window between this and storms forecast for later, though models certainly weren't showing quite this level of morning convection.

By no means will this end the drought for Georgia (we are over 10 inches in the hole for rainfall deficit the past few months), but it absolutely will help. Hoping this continues to slide even further into central and south Georgia where things are categorically worse.

Our SOO retired last year. One thing that will permanently stick with me are the vivid descriptions of his surveys from this event. He could give very specific details of the damage he saw along Friendship Road near Ringgold over a decade later.

I haven't had time to do a deep dive (oldest son had his birthday, youngest has been on a sleep strike all weekend), but from what has been shared and I've seen, severe potential for north and central Georgia will peak during the morning with impacts likely during the commute for ATL.

40 to 45 mph off TATL inside the southwest perimeter. 10 to 15 mph off KFFC, which given the angle is approaching near perpendicular and becoming not useful for straightline wind investigation.

Good example of being careful about radar interpretation w/ velocity. Radar measures wind moving toward and away along the radial. As line approaches radar, the angle on the outer portion becomes larger, and the vector component blowing towards the radar lower. Get a 10-15 mph difference off TATL.

Nice, clean graphics are a plus, but love the highly visible risk descriptions with clear numbering of risk levels. We've been using the zoomed in version of these for a while with much success, so I'm happy to see this go national, so to speak.
