In a response from Rt Hon Baroness Smith of Malvern Minister for Women and Equalities to my MP's requests, I was given more misleading information indicating that she had never even looked into what AI tools were used instead forwarding generic guidance that was still in development at the time.

May 21 the EHRC reported methodology finally goes live (with a whimper, not a bang). I'd personally submitted FOI requests and clarifications in Aug, Sep, Oct, and Nov 2025 meeting with refusals throughout. The basic report they were already legally obliged to compile was "too expensive" to provide.

🚨 The EHRC admitted on May 21 they used GPT-4.1 to analyse 50,000+ consultation responses about equality law. GPT-4.1 has documented anti-LGBTQ+ bias & included zero disclosed bias testing. The guidance excluding transgender people from facilities is based on a biased tool they won't admit testing.

One interpretation from that election is that much of its support was against the Tories rather than Pro-Labour. Fast forward from the 2024 GE to 2026 SP election, the chart shows a similarly large shift away from Labour towards Reform as the previous Tory to Labour trend.

The shifts in 2024 may be illustrative. Self-reported vote changes between 2021 SP and the 2024 General elections indicate a big shift away from the Tories in general towards Labour, but also towards Reform.

There's continued discussion of where Reform's support seems to be emerging. Based on survey of Scottish voters 1-2 weeks ago from Survation seems to tell a complicated story. The plurality are former Scottish Tory voters or report not voting previously for the Scottish Parliament in 2021.

Turns out it is too expensive to even indicate whether those guidelines exist. See the example of the types of permitted costs, NOTE that they claim a report already exists, but that the costs associated with reporting the most of guidelines is too expensive--

So I submitted a substantially narrowed FOI asking for only the most basic overview of information while awaiting a decision on the review request. Asking much more basic questions like, what guidelines existed for the use of AI? And if they don't exist, to indicate that directly.

that indeed, I was requestion information on both sets of consultations. Again, the information requested would have been standard in any professional report. These requests were rejected on Oct 21 on fee grounds after the maximal delay possible (and even an extension).

As Director of Strathclyde's PLACE Lab for Computational Social Science, I thought it relevant to ask the EHRC how they undertook their analysis through a FOI request dated from Aug 8, 2025. Although I asked a substantial number of questions around bias mitigation and data validation...

Not sure what AI American journalists are using. But, AI summaries don't equal facts unless you want to mislead but...
