B. Zelkovich is peering out of their cave
@bzelkovich
A real piece of work (in progress). She/they. Water(bottle)gate '25, Viable Paradise '24, words in Wyldblood, Dread Mondays, Life Beyond Us, Folk Horror Short Stories (Beyond & Within), & more. Taco Bell Tattoo Haver. Fuck AI forever & ever. bzelkovich.com
Post a perfect album from the 90s that isn't Nirvana, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, or Alice in Chains.
Day 26: "Eggshells" by Rose Keating from her collection Oddbody. I love a story that inserts something absolutely bizarre into an otherwise mundane world. I'll be thinking about this one for a while yet. #StoryADay
Got caught by a wave of feels looking at pics of my boy, Simon. On the left, his Humane Society photo, 10yrs ago. On the right, a pic snapped last month. He'll be 12 in November (!?!?). He's gone so gray 😭 and he's a little chunkier, but he's still always ready to play & then snuggle afterwards.
I don't normally care about daily games, but Smush has me in a chokehold @hankgreen.bsky.social @johngreensbluesky.bsky.social
Day 14.3: "White Hills" by Rebecca Roanhorse from her collection River of Bones and Other Stories. A very unsettling play on "Hills Like White Elephants." This one had me squirming the whole time, and I especially loved the open ending. #StoryADay
Oh, hey, @cycling2asylum.bsky.social look what just arrived at my library! Can't wait to hand them to soooo many patrons 💜💜💜.
ngl, today's lunch break feels very @tacobellquarterly.org coded.
I keep a "Save the Rain Forest" keychain on my keys. My mom got it on a trip to the San Diego Zoo when I was 2. I may not remember that trip, but I can't remember a time when it wasn't on her keys. Until I got my first set of car keys and it became mine. This jaguar has seen A LOT in 34 years!
Proof that I left the house on a Saturday. Like someone with a life. Weird.
Hottest day of the year (so far), so we hiked about it. Cape Perpetua, for Book Reasons™.
Got the best kind of mail today! @wyldblood.bsky.social
The view this morning looks like something out of Pride & Prejudice (2005) and am Here for it.
Braved the outdoors on an unseasonably warm spring day.
Without downloading anything new, where are you, mentally?
I have never heard a narrator this creepy. I was already so excited to finally read Wife Shaped Bodies, but now I am HOOKED.
Proof of life. First hike of the season.
Eighteen years together tonight. Took a walk among the (fading) cherry blossoms to celebrate.
I use Blistex Medicated Lip Ointment when my lip is actively cracked and hurting, and then the Blistex Medicated Lip Balm when it's calloused and I'm wanting to pick at it (ADHD/anxiety cope ftw 🙄).
I made Pumpkin Pudding Pies yesterday from a screenshot of a recipe I found on Tumblr. Turns out, it's by @electrolemon.bsky.social ! And it's fucking DELICIOUS. You're so right, Demi. It's good pie! (don't look at the crust. I'll make my own next year!)
Tonight we drank bourbon and listened to Run the Jewels on vinyl while I made peanut butter bread from "Baking Yesteryear" by B. Dylan Hollis. The world is scary right now, but there's still this. There's still love.
Sometimes, a dose of nostalgia really does feel so good.
