That’s interesting. Could it be due to the harsh winter? We had a pretty harsh winter, and amazed at the amount of caterpillars for my first year. I haven’t even seen a swallowtail lately, but they must be stopping by to lay eggies. Here’s my second guy in the smaller net. He started 6/22.

Momma had twins. On our walk this morning, finally saw the babies resting. My neighbor later alerted me they were out front as backed out of the driveway.

Poor momma deer. We found out yesterday she had twins. Because of the fireworks she’s jumping yard to yard over the fences as fireworks get too close. The neighbor with dementia chased her. Thankfully momma didn’t charge the neighbor. This is mild in comparison to now. Alt txt - deer grazing.

See the horns on the clades? This is actually a thanksgiving cactus, sold as a Christmas cactus. Christmas cacti have rounded clades vs the devil horns. It’s a fun little fact. It suits you! @isamiscreant.bsky.social

This is a variegated Christmas cactus, most commonly confused with a thanksgiving cactus. I got a cutting a couple of years ago, it’s slow growing from a cutting. It’s happy, finally growing new clades.

Our second guy is changing colors!

@kappakatch21.bsky.social Thank you! The big guy survived. I didn’t notice him first thing this morning but found him a bit ago flying in the net. I let him go immediately so no good pics. He was flying and hitting the top of the net. He’s a black, yellow/blue swallowtail. He flew right away.

Look at her. She’s beautiful. She ate an apple left for her whole. Filled the water in front of her so she hopefully knows what it is. It’s so hot still, 95° F.

I’m home. The residents were sketchy and denied having the flag. The officers made a police report. I was told to be careful, next time could be a brick through the window. For the record the pole also had an AirTag as it was stolen last year. Last year the bracket was ripped out of the brick. 1/2

We love her. Thundy didn’t even make a peep. He backed up when I backed up. I didn’t want to startle her in any way. She’s a big dog.

The deer is back. Probably due to the fireworks/heat. It’s 110° today. Put a water bucket over the fence. She startled me when took T out, excuse my heavy breathing. She’s clearly used to both of us, she backed up a bit but continued eating. She usually comes at night, she’s thin.

While waiting for T today found spring/summer Lambies and other stuffies were on clearance.

Its beautiful! think we lost another caterpillar today. I found him on the floor of the net. His feets were stuck. He was hanging pretty low on a fennel branch yesterday, am guessing he ate through it and fell. I put him in the bottom of the pot just in case. The 1st is the other.
