ON THE SHELF: VIRGINIA WOOLF'S ORLANDO Woolfe's classic story of an Elizabethan nobleman who lives into the present, becoming a woman along the way. A tale of identity, love and truth brilliantly illustrated by Jules Schele this is a fabulous new look at a masterpiece of 20th century literature.

Regie stand in front of the bookshelves and holds up a copy of Virginia Woolfe's Orlando to the camera. Behind them (and yes, I'm using gender neutral pronouns because the character (spoilers for a nearly century old book) switches gender half way through...) are a number of apparently disinterested characters (perhaps alt versions of Orlando themself? PICKS OF THE WEEK: BADROCK Rob Liefeld's badass boulder is back! When his mom is kidnapped Badrock heads off to save the day. But the villains plan to show he's not as stone cold as we think! Refreshingly innocent storytelling for the kid in all of us, featuring pitch perfect art by Seth Damoose.

PICKS OF THE WEEK: MISCHIEF OF MAGPIES Mar is a "troubled teen". Problems at home, bullied at school, generally unhappy. But sometimes he finds himself somewhere else. A machine city of wonders and monsters, and Magpies. A beautiful darkly lyrical fantasy story that is also beautiful to look at.

PICKS OF THE WEEK: 100 BULLETS A stark story about rage and hate presented in the starkest of black and white, this is an uncomfortable, gripping and completely compelling read.

We didn't make a big thing of it, but Regie took over at Desties ten years ago this month. We were touched to receive this brilliant card from one of our loyal customers - Thank You Lynn! #Comics #Harrogate

Regie holds up the hand drawn birthday card we received from a customer. The card features a pastiche of a comic cover in the DC REBIRTH trade dress, changed to replace "DC" with "DV". The comic titles reads "TEN YEARS DESTINATION VENUS" while the cover shows a Batsignal on a grey background behind a blue silhouette of the Great County of Yorkshire with a Yorkshire Rose in its centre. The whole thing is hand drawn and hand coloured and we are flabbergasted that anyone would take that amount of effort just to celebrate Regie's ten years in charge!
