Seattle has spoken overwhelmingly in support of universal school meals. Let's give a ton of credit to the teachers, parents and students who mobilized for free breakfast and lunch for every student.
Right now, our transit system is breaking records and delivering real value for our families. I appreciate City Council’s partnership in crafting a package to voters offering a low-cost way to bring people more and better of the cheapest travel option available, public transit.
I’ve never felt prouder of our city. This is what it looks like when government delivers. Read my full op-ed at https://www.seattletimes.com/opinion/seattle-the-world-cup-brought-possibility-lets-build-on-it/

A tough loss today, but what an amazing run this year by Team USA. Thanks to all the fans who visited us, especially those Team Belgium supporters who made multiple trips to our beautiful city!
Today we celebrate our nation's 250th birthday. In a moment when our federal government is undermining basic American ideals - pluralism, due process, democracy - many of us struggle to articulate a patriotism that we can feel and own. 1/7
I am the mom of a wonderfully active child. As she grows, I want her to find belonging, joy, and friendship at school and, if she chooses, while competing in school sports.
Honoring 75 years of Seafair tradition, the keys of the City were handed over to the Seafair Pirates as hundreds of parents and children helped launch Seattle’s favorite summertime event! 🏴☠️
I stood with our LGBTQ+ community at Trans Pride and the Seattle Pride Parade this weekend, and Seattle SHOWED UP! I’m proud to be part of a city that celebrates and supports this community not just during Pride Month, but all year long. Happy Pride! 🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️
Did you know WA is one of the top ten states for Greystar, a property manager at the heart of this recent investigation on Junk Fees?
Another beautiful match in our beautiful city! Thanks to all of the fans of Qatar and Bosnia-Herzegovina who came out to Seattle Stadium and watch parties all over the city and got to enjoy an incredible 3-1 game! ⚽
I got to attend an only-in-Seattle FIFA watch party on a barge on Elliott Bay for the England/Ghana match! We’ve got lots more thrilling matches coming up, Seattle, so don’t miss out on one of our fan events at Seattle Center, Pacific Place, Waterfront Park, and Victory Hall.
Golden Gardens Direct is a new pilot that connects our transit system so everyone can enjoy Golden Gardens, regardless of how they get there. I'm excited to partner with King County Metro to help connect more people to one of the places that make Seattle such a great place to live.
I had such an amazing time watching Team USA take down the Socceroos! Thanks to our Australian friends for coming to town, and for everyone who came out to watch parties across the city to cheer on our team!
Thank you to the transit riders who came to City Hall this morning to speak in support of my Seattle Transit Measure renewal!
In solidarity with community organizers who have fought to build the Graham Street Station for more than a decade, County Executive Zahilay @girmayzahilay.bsky.social and I today announced a plan to finally deliver this project to the community.
Shortly following my announcement of new investments in Seattle’s children and families today, we heard gunfire. No one was injured, but it was a stark reminder of a reality too many people in this city live with every day.
100 days in, and we're just getting started! This is your city -- let's make it the best place in the country to live, work, and raise a family.
Seattle is coming together to open new shelters with wrap-around services citywide. Thank you to everyone who joined tonight's community briefing on my shelter expansion plan. I was pleased to announce our first new site in Interbay, and the acceleration of Glassyard Commons & Brighton Village.
Seattle is ready to build more shelters with wrap-around services so everyone can have a safe place to sleep inside. Join my community briefing Wednesday evening, 6pm at the Bertha Knight Landes Room in City Hall to get an update on where we're at, and be part of the solution.
I had a few minutes in between speaking out in support of our co-op preschools and celebrating the grand opening of the Wallingford Food Bank. What a beautiful day to soak in some sun at Green Lake!
We need to go taller, denser, and faster. That's why we're taking bold steps to meet the scale of our housing crisis by combining and accelerating the next phases of Seattle’s Comprehensive Plan.
As a lifelong transit rider and longtime transit organizer, I was one of thousands who helped get ST3 passed. As your Mayor, I'm going to make sure we get it across the finish line. (1/3)
"We are deeply concerned about gun violence in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District, and devastated that two teenagers were the victims. Incidents like this are a painful reminder of the ongoing impact of gun violence on our communities." @mayorofseattle.bsky.social @cmeddielin.bsky.social
Taller, denser, faster. I was excited to announce at @housingconsortium.org's annual event yesterday that we're going to combine and accelerate Phases 3 and 4 of Seattle's comprehensive plan to achieve more housing near transit and in and around our growth centers.
I am aware of the reports from the U-District about a woman who was detained by federal authorities and separated from her small child who is currently with CPS. 1/3
First snow day as mayor! Great to start it with a morning run through our beautiful Arboretum.
Thank you to the community leaders on my transition team who worked for months gathering feedback from more than 1,000 people about their issues, priorities, and dreams for the city. Check out the full transition report and recommendations here: www.seattle.gov/mayor/transi...
The streets in front of City Hall are looking pretty packed full of blue & green and I can't wait to be part of the parade up 4th Avenue. Look out for me in the vintage metro bus! #gohawks #thisisyourcity
