Nobody is taking about it or anything else going to zero. But a general reduction in inequality would be very welcome. Why tax a guy scrubbing toilets in Glasgow but leave Musk’s pile untroubled by fair taxation? I’ll give you the answer. It’s the natural order of things.
I’m not advocating higher property tax, but wealth tax. That mostly comes from financial assets. Those values are reassessed all day every day. Very easy to know what they are. Yes, you need to change the law to avoid the country becoming a third world pit.
