So my friend came into town late with her dog, who is my dog’s best friend. My friend went up to the guest bedroom, and all of the fur babies went up with her, immediately. No one even considered snuggling with me. This is a crime against my house.

Night time. On a bed there is a gray and white cat, a black and white dog, and a golden-brown dog. They all look tired but happy. These are the faces of betrayal against me.

So I encountered this gorgeous weirdo yesterday.

Just went to the liquor store in my neighborhood, and Maxwell from Knudsen Vineyards was pouring their wines for tasting. Knudsen’s vineyard is on the Oregon license plate, based on my dad’s photograph — and it turned out Maxwell had a large print of the photo!

I don’t do a lot of meat, but I kind of nailed it with these steaks. It’s so wonderful to cook for loved ones!

Awesome! Jāņi is a huge deal in Latvia, second only barely to Christmas. Bonfires, dancing, flowers, wreaths, and lots of all-night drinking. They even make a special cheese for the holiday! (Delicious, with caraway seeds in it) Here’s a pic I love of my dad with an oak wreath headdress:
