Happy BNW release day to all authors @tenebrouspress.bsky.social and thanks to @seizethepress.bsky.social for originally publishing “Avila Beach,” my story of a town awash in severed limbs & teenagers with no future. If you take your fiction with a tablespoon (gallon?) of weird this is for you!
It’s very rare I feel compelled to strangle people into reading fiction but Avra Margariti gives me unsavory urges. Please read “Fragments (From a Film)” about broken bones and cinema and collective yearning. Then read everything Avra writes. @undertow.bsky.social @avramargariti.bsky.social
Look at what a wonderful bundle of the bizarre arrived today! @undertow.bsky.social @bourbonpenn.bsky.social
The People Under the Stairs (Craven 1991) reveals the proper way to redistribute wealth.
Salton Sea facts: “During a four-month long period in 1996, 14,000 birds died from avian botulism, nearly 10,000 of which were American White Pelicans. The carcasses were burned in an incinerator 24 hours per day for weeks.” Just finished a weird horror story about those who burned the birds.
Everyone should go check out this horrifying deranged awesome collection. The story “Shrike” alone is worth the price of admission.
It’s time folks! Just got Gore Poetics by @spicycloaca.bsky.social from @cursedmorsels.bsky.social . If you like horror, if you like weird and if you like weird horror, this is gonna be your jam.
Not sure how this image came up on my YouTube algorithm for a music playlist. But whatever it is, I’m all for it. I think this is kind of the vibe of a lot of my stories.
My robots algorithm has said it’s going to be a six espresso kind of day. #cafelat #cafelatrobot
I don’t play music, but I imagine this is what my set up would look like #doom #doommetal
Much love to those in Minneapolis this Jan 23. Let the general strike bloom both bread and roses.
Amazing experience at @whitneyplantation.org near New Orleans, which centers the experience of enslaved people. Moving artwork on the German Coast antislavery uprising of 1811—America’s largest ever—inspired by the revolution in Haiti.
I've only read 2 of the 3 stories in Nadia Bulkin's "Issues with Authority," but wow. Psychic/psychopathic Carly of "Cop Car" is beyond memorable. The rot of beauty pageants in "Your Next Best American Girl" heartbreaking. Collection of the Year? @nadiabulkin.bsky.social @ghoulish.bsky.social
Contract signed!! Beyond excited to have my story "Istanai" coming out in March 26 in Trollbreath. @trollbreathmag.bsky.social A dark fantasy love story about mountain lions, static on old TVs, the jealousies that underpin friendship, and keeping revolutionary desire alive beyond death.
Just bought my wife ECO24 for the holidays. She's obsessed with native plants and California ecology (no, she doesn't use bsky-no secrets revealed). Hopefully this stokes her burgeoning desire to write speculative ecofiction! @apexmag.bsky.social @marissavu.bsky.social
Great writing on the shadow that haunts LA. Mariana Enriquez “A Sunny Place for Shady People”. With visits from the mountain lion P-22 and Elisa Lam.
Awards season means nominating my stories for oddly specific prizes that don't exist but should. Thanks to @gravesidepress.bsky.social for publishing this one in their "What Lurks: A Cryptid Anthology," which has some great stories in it! Buy it here: graveside-press.com/product/what...
Awards season means nominating myself for made-up awards that should exist. Thanks to @seizethepress.bsky.social for publishing my weird fiction story Avila Beach in the Spring! Read it here: www.seizethepress.com/2025/03/29/a... #weirdfiction
It's awards season, so I've decided to nominate my own stories for some made-up awards that should exist, starting with my metaphysical science-fiction/horror hybrid "The Poem of the Yovel," which came out a week ago in Quest #1. Read it here: read.quest/content/the-... @readquest.bsky.social
Picked up these two books from @vromansbookstore.bsky.social before watching Frankenstein. Unlike the movie, I am sure these will not leave me disappointed. @agustinabazterrica.bsky.social & Mariana Enriquez
