The Ward 9 Office in collaboration with the Minneapolis Public Works Department will be hosting a Ward 9 Community Clean Up along East Lake Street. I am excited for us to connect and help our streets get cleaned. We will be providing the materials and free Ice cream afterwards. 2/
Dear neighbor, Our city was shaken this weekend by two separate mass shootings in South Minneapolis. One outside the Reign Event Center in Uptown (Ward 10) that left nine people injured, and another on Nicollet Avenue (Ward 6) that took the life of a 28-year-old person and wounded four others. 1/

The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) has issued an air quality alert in effect until 11 a.m. Friday, July 17, due to heavy wildfire smoke from northern Minnesota and southern Canada. This World Cup gave so much hope to Mexicans in Minnesota. It’s more than football. 💔🇲🇽 We started the year with our community facing a disproportionate impact from kidnappings by ICE from the occupation by the federal government. But this team made us proud in a year that targeted our community.

RIP Karen Clark. 🕊️❤️ We lost a giant. She was the first openly lesbian member to serve in the MN Legislature, spent decades fighting for LGBTQIA+ rights, environmental justice, & BIPOC neighbors. She spent her last decade fighting for the East Phillips Urban Farm that we will get done in her honor.

Today’s committee vote on a technical amendment regarding bathhouses did not go the way I hoped, but it will still have a final vote next week.
